Wind and Waves in Benidorm, Spain
Updated: Feb 9

Our family trip to Spain’s Costa Blanca brought us to Benidorm, a coastal city where tall buildings meet the open sea. We arrived on a day when the wind was powerful, with gusts reaching almost 40 km/h. The air felt alive and the sound of the waves followed us everywhere.
As the sun began to set, we went out to explore the city's coastal side. The wind pushed against us as we walked, lifting hair, jackets, and the sound of the sea into the air. Near the stairs above the water, my daughter stopped and held tightly to the railings. Far below, the waves crashed hard against the rocks. The sea looked powerful and endless, and for a moment we simply stood there, watching and listening.

From the viewpoint above, the sunset slowly filled the sky with warm colors. The white railings and blue tiles reflected the fading light, and seagulls flew overhead, sometimes gliding smoothly, sometimes struggling against the wind. Everything felt dramatic and peaceful at the same time.

We spent time wandering through the Benidorm bay area, moving at our own pace. There was no rush, no plan - just walking, talking and stopping whenever something caught our attention. The sea stayed close, always visible, always loud, always moving.

Benidorm is known for its nightlife, bright lights, and busy streets. Even outside the main season, you can still feel that energy waiting to come alive after dark. But this trip was different for us. We weren’t there for parties or crowds. We were there for the sun, the changing colors of the sky and the simple joy of being together - just us, the wind and the waves.
