A Warm Italian Corner Inside a Malmö Menswear Store

Last week, I stepped into Per Ljungs to photograph a small tasting setup for Tradizione, the Italian food shop just around the corner.

What I didn’t expect was how naturally everything would fall into place.

Fine menswear and Italian food don’t usually share the same space, but here they did. Effortlessly.

A Table Built on Italian Essentials

Tradizione had created a small tasting corner that felt warm and inviting. At the center of it all were the ingredients - simple, but deeply rooted in Italian tradition.

There were slices of cured meats, freshly cut on a beautiful red slicer that quietly drew attention. Alongside them, pieces of Parmigiano Reggiano, rich and slightly crumbly, offer that unmistakable depth of flavor.

On the table, crackers and breadsticks were accompanied by a tomato-based spread made from San Marzano tomatoes - naturally sweet, balanced and familiar in the best way. It was the kind of taste that people returned to without thinking twice. I personally loved it.

And then there was the olive element - a smooth, savory pâté made from Taggiasca olives. Subtle, slightly sweet, and incredibly moreish. The kind of flavor that lingers just enough to make you reach back for another piece of bread.

Crackers, cheeses, spreads - nothing overly complex, just thoughtfully chosen.

People, Moments, and Movement

What made it special wasn’t just the food - it was the way people interacted with it.

Some walked in for the clothing and found themselves pausing at the tasting table. Others came specifically for Tradizione and ended up slowly browsing the racks of jackets and shirts.

A few bought cheeses or jars to take home. Some simply tasted, smiled, and continued on. No expectations - just a shared moment.

As a photographer, I found myself focusing on the details: hands reaching, small conversations, expressions that shift when someone tastes something unexpectedly good.

A Boutique with Character

While my work was centered around Tradizione, the setting played an important role.

Per Ljungs has a calm, curated presence. The menswear leans timeless - well-cut pieces, quality fabrics and a sense of intention behind what’s on display. It’s the kind of place where you notice the details up close, much like with good food.

There’s a shared philosophy between the two: craftsmanship, simplicity, and quality over excess.

A Quiet Collaboration

Seeing these two local businesses come together felt like a small celebration.

One expresses craft through fabric. The other through flavor.

And somewhere in between, people gather - not for an event that demands attention, but one that naturally creates it.
